Nuernberg Christkindlmarkt Commemorative Stein

This is the seventh edition in the series entitled "Germany's Most Beautiful Citadels, Castles, and Buildings". Every year, beginning on the Friday before the Advent Season and continuing through Christmas Eve, the City of Nuernberg celebrates the original "Christkindlmarkt".
Beautiful outdoor open-air specialty shops attract visitors with a wide variety of holiday ornaments, treats and gifts. Rich in tradition, the Christkindlmarkt takes place in the Hauptmarkt (main marketplace). Its origin dates back to the 16th century when the custom of giving Christmas presents to children first began. The stein's body was sculpted in full and prominent panoramic relief style. Two outdoor shops are in the foreground. The Hauptmarkt with the Church of St. Sebald is in the background. The left side-features the Schoene Brunnen Fountain and the Sinwell Tower of the Imperial Nuernberg Castle.
The stein is made of the finest-grade stoneware. It is entirely hand painted and truly captures the spirit of the Christkindlmarkt, with its cobalt blue night sky above the sparkling, snow-covered city. The pewter lid features a handpainted resin miniature figurine, made in England, depicting the Christkindlmarkt and the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady).
